Experimental program on replicas of archaeological combustion structures of the Iron Age, conducted within the TRANSCOMB Project in the Iberian Citadel of Calafell (Tarragona, Spain), to compare the fire behaviour with different locations, fuels, weather and temperature conditions, and evaluate how these affected other variables. The experimentation was carried out in three different periods between the years 2021 and 2022, performed a total of 35 combustions and data includes information about the fuel-type and weight before and after the combustions, duration of combustions, and temperatures, among others. A combination of methodologies has been applied for integrated analyses: anthracology, phytoliths and calcitic microfossils, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry, micromorphology and chemical analysis of hearth surfaces.
