Abstract

In this work we try to establish the relationship between manuscript E (N-III-5 of the El Escorial Library) of the Catalan translation of the "Legenda aurea" by Jacobus de Voragine, with the incunabula of 1494 or "Flos sanctorum romançat". In the composition of the incunabula, the version transmited by E is taken into account, as evidenced not only by the conjunctive errors but also by the fact that the wording is reproduced in many fragments. Additionally, there are significant overlaps in some of the chapters added to the Voragine collection. Moreover, in the incunabula we detect the consultation of a Latin model different form the one used in the translation.
