Resumen

Since the first studies on Second Language Acquisition, one of the main research trends has been Contrastive Analysis, based on the comparison of two languages in order to design new learning materials that could overcome the (grammar) mistakes coming from differences in both languages. Today, it is asumed that mistakes done by learners have many other sources, not only their mother tongue. Although several hypotheses in Contrastive Analysis have been rejected, truth is that it still is a very useful tool for language teaching and material design. One of its more recent applications comes for works on Cross-cultural Pragmatics, which will be our focus.
