Abstract

Since the introduction of the Master in Computer Engineering in the University of Alicante in 2011, a strategy of continuous improvement has been developed, that culminated in its conversion to a blended learning (bLearning) course in 2015-2016. This conversion is a significant challenge that requires a complete redesign of existing courses combining the best of classroom teaching and online learning. Although the student should always be the center of the learning process, in the case of bLearning courses this is even more important. Proposed bLearning design is based on an instructional model, which is built on a set of basic principles and a number of strategies based on these principles. This general proposal, that is set to serve as a starting point for other similar experiences, has resulted in the practical application in three cases: three subjects with different characteristics. After the implementation, it is necessary to validate the result of the experience. To do this, an opinion poll among students has been done. The results are positive, concluding that the proposed blended learning design is suitable for the specific case, but also provides a practical guide for converting or creating courses in bLearning format.
