Resumen

This article is the result of a research carried out among university Catalan Language students which aims to observe whether a language teaching and learning methodology based on Construction Grammar theory can be more efficient than the usual methods; in particular, this will be verified in the case of the ENPARTITIVE construction in Catalan. This construction is prototypically transitive and has a quantified complement and an implicit referent which is recoverable through the context using the clitic pronounen:Ell en té dos [talking about books]. This construction has learning difficulties because it is absent in Spanish, which is the L1 of most learners analysed here. Moreover, it also has some difficulty for students who have Catalan as L1, since the construction is in retreat among young Catalan speakers. The process of minorization which Catalan language is submitted to has a negative impact on maintaining constructions with no parallel in Spanish, the majority language in the context.
