Abstract
The aim of this study is to look at irony in real spoken contexts as well as to provide teachers and students with helpful keys in order to avoid cultural misunderstandings caused by ironic utterances. Those keys are certain linguistic, kinesiological and phonic traces which can be found, either separately or in combination, in every ironic statement. We will insist on the importance of including these aspects when teaching Spanish as a foreign language
