Abstract

The aim of this study is to relate the disruptive behavior disorders and attention deficit with the age and sex of the children in the study, determine and compare the prevalence of the disruptive behavior disorders and attention deficit in institutionalized children with children integrated in their family, to relate the prevalence of the disruptive behavior disorders and attention deficit with the mistreatment they suffered, family context, family contact and the lenght of institutionalization. Thus, we developed a study of quantitative analysis, non-experimental, transverse and correlational with a sample of 200 children aged between 6 and 12 years, subdivided into two groups. The instruments used were a sociodemographic questionnaire, the CBCL 6-18 and open questions to the technical teams of the institutions. Regarding the prevalence of the disruptive behavior disorders and attention deficit was found that is higher in all dimensions of the CBCL, in institutionalized children, with results that are statistically highly significant except for the dimension "somatic complaints". It was also statistically confirmed the association between some types of abuse and the disconstructive family context with the prevalence of the disruptive behavior disorders and attention deficit. The results also showed that the intervention of health professionals in the host institutions is deficient; existing much to improve for it is reconized the importance of the health role in ongoing monitoring of these children not only in the prevention, detection, monitoring of families but also during the fragile period away from home, especially in the (re)constrution of their life projects.
