MENDO PÉREZ

Architect trained at the School of Architecture of Alicante (2007) and PhD from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – IPPUR/UFRJ, Brazil (2018), with a Master’s degree in Urbanism from the same university (PROURB/UFRJ, Brazil, 2014). Currently Assistant Professor of Architectural Design at the University of Alicante (since 2022). I was previously Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in the Department of Architectural Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (2018–2022). As a researcher, I am currently a member of the Urban Analysis Laboratory of the Graduate Program in Urbanism at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (LAURD–PROURB–UFRJ), as well as of the Research Group on Architectural Design: Critical Pedagogies, Ecological Politics, and Material Practices (PAPCPEPM) at the University of Alicante. My research articles have been published in academic journals on architecture, anthropology, and urban studies. As a practicing architect, I worked in Spain at COR Asociados and collaborated with Adriana Figueiras Arquitectos between 2006 and 2009. From 2010 to 2022, I lived in Brazil, where I won architectural competitions such as Morar Carioca (in 2010).
