I graduate in Chemistry Pharmaceutical Biology from the Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico). Then, I got my Master of Science in 2007 and my PhD in Science in 2011 from the Institute of Ecology, A.C. (Mexico). During my academic training and research career I was awarded with study scholarships and scholarships for research stays granted by the CONACYT Mexico (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología). In 2012 I carried out a stay at the I.U.I. CIBIO of the University of Alicante (Spain), with a postdoctoral fellowship abroad for the consolidation of research groups by CONACYT. I have been a member of the National Research System (SNI) level I of CONACYT during 2017-2019. Since 2019 I belong to the interdisciplinary research group ESCARAB which it is composed of researchers with expertise in entomology, veterinary, chemistry, engineering, etc. In June 2023 I obtained my first six-year research period recognized by ANECA. I am currently working as a Senior Collaborator Researcher at the CIBIO within the project “Nature-based solutions for parasite control in extensive livestock” farming, restoration of dung insect biodiversity and associated ecosystem services (GREENCATTLE). My research line analyses the role of dung beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) from an interdisciplinary perspective which includes their biology, ecology, behaviour, ecophysiology, ecotoxicology and chemical ecology. The results and associated knowledge have been published in Q1 scientific journals (e.g. Chemoecology, Ecological Entomology, Journal of Insect Physiology, Plos One and Scientific Reports.), popular journals and conferences. Apart from the scientific community, I also consider important to disseminate and communicate the importance of dung beetle conservation to the rest of the society (especially veterinarians and farmers) due its multiple socioeconomic, ecologic and sanitary implications. Therefore, I have organized and/or taken part into workshops, seminars and divulgative activities (e.g. “European Researchers’ Night- Nit de la Investigació”, “Día internacional de la Mujer y la Niña en la Ciencia”). I also create scientific and divulgative content on these matters for different internet platforms like www.youtube.com/@ESCARAB; Instagram: escarab1; Facebook: ESCARAB.
