Doctor by the Universidad de Murcia with the thesis Sobre la regularidad métrica de aplicaciones en optimización 2007. Supervised by Dr. Asen L. Dontchev, Dr. Marco A. López Cerdá.

Francisco J. Aragón Artacho received his degree in Mathematics from the University of Alicante (Spain) in 2002, and a Ph.D. in optimization in 2007 at the University of Murcia (Spain). After working as a Portfolio Valuation Analyst for a business company in Madrid for 9 months, he took a postdoctoral position of 3 years at the University of Alicante, supported by the "Juan de la Cierva" program. In 2011 he became a Research Associate at the Priority Research Centre for Computer-Assisted Research Mathematics and its Applications (CARMA) at the University of Newcastle (Australia) under the direction of Prof. Jonathan Borwein. Two years later, in September 2013, he moved to Luxembourg for a postdoctoral position (AFR Postdoc-Marie Curie Fellow) at the Systems Biochemistry Group at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine. In November 2014 he left the group and joined the University of Alicante as senior researcher under the competitive "Ramón y Cajal" program. In September 2020 he became an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Alicante. His research focuses on variational analysis and optimization algorithms. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications (since 2024), TOP (since 2023), Optimization Letters (since 2022), and Fixed Point Theory (since 2021).
