Dr. Marco A. Celdrán-Bernabeu is a senior research technician at the Tourism Research Institute of the University of Alicante (Spain), a multidisciplinary tourism research centre where he is involved, among others, in projects associated with the National R&D&I Plan. He is also the technical coordinator of the University Lab for Smart Tourism (TI·LAB, https://lab.turismodetorrevieja.com/), an initiative of the University of Alicante in Torrevieja, one of the most important tourist destinations in the Spanish Mediterranean, that has become an area of training and research in smart tourism. His research focuses on tourism planning and management processes, the influence of technologies on demand behaviour and their impact on management processes. He combines his activity with teaching in the Department of Regional Geographical Analysis and Physical Geography at the University of Alicante as a part-time professor. In addition to his academic activities, he participates in various planning projects and has held relevant positions in destinations and organisations dedicated to tourism management.
