Antonio Pertusa got his degree in Computer Science from the University of Alicante and his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2010. He is an associate professor at the Department of Software and Computing Systems (DLSI) at the University of Alicante, where he is a Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence Group (GRFIA) member. Currently, he is the director of the University Institute for Computing Research (IUII), an institution with over 135 Ph.D. researchers in computer science. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Spanish Association for Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (AERFAI), the Spanish branch of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). His research interests include machine and deep learning methods mainly applied to music information retrieval, medical data, and remote sensing. He has authored over 50 publications, including high-impact journals and international conferences. Since 2010, he has participated in 11 competitive projects (three as PI) and four non-competitive contracts (two as PI) with public and private entities. He has supervised three doctoral theses related to deep learning methods applied to computer vision, medical data, and music audio retrieval tasks. He has been the local organizer of the Iberian Conference of Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (IbPRIA), 2023, and he has been contributing regularly as a Program Committee member in the ISMIR conference during the past 15 years. He has also contributed as a reviewer in high-impact journals, including IEEE Trans. on Image Processing, IEEE Trans. on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing, IEEE Trans. on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, Nature Scientific Reports and IEEE Signal Processing Letters, among others. He has served as guest editor for Pattern Recognition Letters, Pattern Analysis and Applications, and Remote Sensing.
