Raquel Huete is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and researcher at the University Institute for Tourism Research of the University of Alicante. She is the director of the Sustainable Tourism Planning and Management Research Group. Her extensive industry experience spans travel agencies, tour operators, and higher education management before transitioning to academia. Notable roles include directing the UA Permanent Education Centre and serving as Director-General for Tourism at the Region of Valencia Government. Dr. Huete has contributed to numerous R&D projects, led several on tourism and migration, and published in indexed journals. Her expertise led to over a thousand presentations at global conferences and engagements with renowned international organizations such as UNWTO and OECD. She collaborates globally, lecturing at prestigious universities and serving on editorial boards for scientific journals. Her accolades include participation in tourism research award juries and advisory roles for institutions like the Valencian Institute of Tourism Technologies and the Mexican Academy of Tourism Research. She is currently co-editor-in-chief of the academic journal Investigaciones Turísticas. Her current research interests focus on lifestyle mobilities, social sustainability of tourism, and accessible tourism.
