Abstract

The objectives of this research, based on the participation of school students, teachers in training (Primary and Secondary Education), and active teachers, are to analyze the training and prevention received about floods during the school stage, and the experiences of floods suffered in their educational center. Methodologically, based on carrying out two questionnaires (students/teachers) in the Valencian Community (Spain) between 2018-2019 and 2023-2024 academic years (1,702 participants), the main results show that half claim to have not received training on these phenomena during their school years (48.6%), highlighting that those who received some type of training were based on carrying out protocols and/or information on how to act (13.5%). Faced with climate change scenarios, it is necessary to train and prepare the school population (students/teachers) for floods, but also to raise awareness about the daily exposure to these phenomena.
