Resumen

Economic insecurity is linked to emotional ties and the difficulty of developing one’s identity. This reality is more evident when it comes to women, since the labour market is regulated by patriarchal values, as some contemporary Spanish comics show by taking a gender approach. Ángel Abellán and Alba Flores’s Temporada de collita (2020) provides a good example of how graphic novels promote reflection on the female experience in predatory capitalism as it specifically brings to the fore the strategies of collaboration among several generations of women. This story addresses two types of crisis: on the one hand, systemic job crisis, which is especially detrimental to women, and on the other, identity crisis, through the clash of three generations with different backgrounds and expectations.
