Type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) is an autoimmune disease that results in insufficient insulin production due to the destructionof beta cells in the pancreas. Various mathematical models, such as the one developed by (Dalla Man et al., 2007) and validated by the FDA, have led to a series of studies that have allowed tailoring treatments for patients with DM1 (Manrique-C ́ordobaet al., 2020), allowing a better understanding and control of the disease. In this study, we propose to address the dynamics oftype 1 patients using the Matlab tool SimBiology, taking advantage of its functionalities for the analysis of dynamical systems and biological responses. The model aims to provide a more complete view of how the different stages of the menstrual cycle can affect their blood glucose levels. The simulation results allow analysis of how the model responds to different situations and highlight SimBiology’s graphical capabilities for simulating biological systems. These results improve the understanding of DM1 and highlight the potential of these tools to optimize treatments.
