Zusammenfassung

A great advance in the understanding of the rockfall phenomena has been accomplished through the LIDAR technology. The aims of this study are the detection and characterization of two recent rockfalls that have affected two study areas of the research group of natural hazards RISKNAT. The first area of study is the basaltic rockface of Castellfollit de la Roca (Girona) that suffered a largescale rockfall on March 31, 2011. In order to characterize this rockfall event, a scan was carried out on May 17, 2011 and compared with a previous one (March, 2007) obtaining a volume fallen of 850 m 3. The second area analysed is the Degotalls rockface in the Montserrat Mountain (Barcelona) that suffered a small-scale rockfall on November 4, 2011. So a scan was carried out on 12 December, 2011 and compared with another of May, 2011, detecting the detachment area of the block and his volume (1 m 3). Also in this case, displacement of an unstable block close to the fallen one and with similar volume was detected.
