Resumen

We are in a changing society, which implies having an educational system that adjusts and evolves in the same way that our environment does. We need a school that considers the individual characteristics of the students and helps them adapt to today’s society. For this reason, we have considered a school that tries to develop to the maximum the capacities and abilities of the students based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences of Howard Gardner, specifically in the Infant Education stage. It is a public school in Elche (Alicante). The aim is to discover in what practical way this theory is implemented in the classrooms, knowing the distribution of the school day of the center, analyzing its pedagogical innovations as opposed to a traditional school, as well as knowing the role of the adult. The methodology followed for the collection and analysis of the data has been the case study. It has been possible to visit the center, through an external observation, and collect all the data with the field notes. Also, we have had spontaneous talks with the teachers and some families of the school. The results have allowed us to know in detail how the school day is organized in a center that implements Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory. It has been proven that this is a school that, with the help of a transformation of the space, allows to prioritize the protagonism and autonomy of the students as opposed to the traditional role of the teaching staff as transmitter of knowledge. Each area that we find in the class involves the work of a different intelligence, whose materials are also specific and contribute to the development of each of them. The role of the adult also contributes to this, based on: presence, listening, validation and emotional connection.
