Resumo

We present the North Eastern ALGeria Burned Area (NEALGEBA) product—a high-resolution (30 m) BA dataset spanning 40 years (1984–2023) of fire history in typical Mediterranean Ecosystems of NE Algeria. Spatially explicit annual BA maps were systematically generated from Landsat collection 2 surface reflectance product (LC2SR) using the Burned Area Mapping Tools (BAMTs V1.7) (Roteta et al., 2021). This work is part of an urgent project to create a reliable and accurate country-level BA product for Algeria.Data filesThe NEALGEBA product is provided as 40 ESRI shapefile layers in the folder with the following attributes: Year: burn year in YYYY; BAMTs_date: burn detection date in MM/DD/YYYY, where DD is the day, MM is the month, and YYYY is the year. Note that this date is determinedbased on the most frequently occurring date (the mode) for all pixels in each detected burned patch in the Landsat post-fire composite and doesnot imperatively correspond to the effective date of burn; BA_ha: burned area in hectares; ADM_1: Wilaya (first-order administrative division); ADM_2: Baladiyah (second-order administrative division).
