Zusammenfassung

In this paper we examine the travel of Elizabeth Vassall-Fox, lady Holland, in Spain with her family in 1802. It was a time when Spain didn’t appear as a great destiny between European travelers. We focus on some situations related with gender issues that affected the movements of this British woman. For that purpose, we analyze the personal journals in which lady Holland wrote some experiences and anecdotes settled in the Iberian Peninsula. These narratives shown how to be a women could affect the conditions not only during the journey but also the strategies followed by her to improve her own instruction.
