Resumen

Achieving the 2030 Agenda is one of the main challenges facing humanity today Environmental deterioration, social imbalances and existing economic inequalities mean that this represents one of the last opportunities to achieve a more inclusive and egalitarian world. To this end, one of the most appropriate strategies is the integration of Education for Sustainable Development in all educational stages and levels. Through this paradigm, the aim is to raise awareness and sensitize students, as well as to promote their competencies in sustainability. In fact, its effectiveness in stimulating critical thinking and attitudinal and behavioral change among students in Primary and Secondary Education has been proven. However, its application in Higher Education institutions is, for the moment, limited and insufficient. Based on this, and in order to strengthen the sustainable culture of university students, this study set out to analyse the potential of Education for Sustainable Development in the academy. Specifically, the best practices existing at national and international level were reviewed and the challenges and possibilities that this model offers were identified. ln conclusion, some guidelines and suggestions were collected to facilitate its implementation in university spaces.
