Abstract
Click chemistry has had a dramatic and diverse impact in many areas of modern chemistry, standing out polymer research. The control over polymer functionalities (side groups or terminal chains) is essential, since functional groups can be used for performing further modifications such as the post-functionalization of preformed polymers through advanced polymerization techniques, creation of supramolecular linkages, conjugation of macromolecules or adsorption of polymers on surfaces. Carbon nanotubes and graphene were covalently functionalized with polymers using click chemistry. Its use has been spread exponentially in numerous applications within a variety of scientific fields including organic synthesis, molecular biology, and synthesis of new functional materials.
