Compendio de las especies de arañas (Araneae) citadas en la provincia de Alicante, sudeste de España

Abstract

All the existing information on the spider species known from the province of Alicante is gathered from 81 bibliographical references published from the year 1875 to the present. New references are added to the Iberian catalogue. A total of 310 species are currently known from Alicante province, belonging to 182 genera and 41 families. Of those, 35 species, 11.3%, are Iberian endemics. Four families account for more than a third of all the species: Gnaphosidae (42), Linyphiidae (40), Salticidae (39) and Theridiidae (27). The province is divided into nine administrative areas (comarcas), and these are their respective figures: Alto Vinalopó (8 species, mentioned in 2 publications), Baix Vinalopó (148 in 16), El Comtat (6 in 6), El Vinalopó Medio (17 in 11), L'Alcoià (14 in 8), L'Alacantí (98 in 25), La Marina Alta (158 in 28), La Marina Baja (30 in 15) and La Vega Baja (19 in 10)
