Resumen

Comfort is an important factor to achieve a public space of quality. Evaluate an agile and simple the habitability of a particular public space through the use of indicators, is essential to achieve an efficient urbanism. the factors that determine the habitability of an environment are universal, but not their optimum values that depend directly on the site. “Each region has its own climatic conditions and their cultural guidelines, which should be based on the solutions of each case in particular. Protection against the Sun and the heat has an important role in the South of Europe during the summer months, while the problems of Northern Europe are completely different” 1 for getting efficient urban environrments is basic to make a project that ensures the use of public spaces throughout the year. If this variable is not taken into account, we will obtain underutilized spaces, only due to lack of foresight. “Many of the problems are avoidable if a meticulous work in the city and whole-scale projects is carried out to reduce the effects caused by the climatic factors more annoying” 1 We propose a new comfort indicator that provides us a value of the level of habitability of a given environment, without requiring the use of computer programs for the calculation. Minimum study parameters: climatic factor, urban scale, typologies, orientation factor, factor of exposure to wind, absorptivity of materials, vegetation, and activities.
