Abstract

The Catalan medieval legends incoporate different lives to those collected in the "Legenda aurea" de Vorágine forom which they are inspired, thus responding to the needs of the Church to increase the catalog of saints, for different reasons. This is the case of the incunable "Flos sanctorum romançat" that incorporates new legends of saints, among which is the "Life of Sant Roch". In this paper we propose a compartive study of the "Life of the Saint of Montpellier", with the text "Vie, légende, miracles et oraison de monseigneur saint Roch" by Jehan Phelipot, written in French, in order to explore what the possible sources of the Catalan rewriting of the life of Sant Roch are, also questioning other lives of the saint that could have inspired the Catalan compiler
