Objetivos de desarrollo sostenible

Resumen

Education has always been a response to societal concerns and the search for solutions to larger-scale problems, such as the sustainability of the planet.Education is currently given a leading role in the responsibility to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proposed by the United Nations in 2015. Reflecting this, the new Spanish education legislation (LOMLOE, 2020) considers the SDGs as one of the pillars of the student profile. For this reason, this docu-ment aims to offer a proposal that addresses the challenges posed by the SDGs from the perspec-tive of the physical education field in an integrated way. Throughout the document, the starting point is a reflection on the role of teachers in this new task, trying to show how the knowledge and methodologies of the field could contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.It also specifies the scope that physical education could have in this contribution, summarisingactions,or strat-egies for its work in 24 of the 169 goals that make up the SDGs.Therefore, we propose an approach to concepts related to sustainability with the aim of promoting the notion of Physical Education for Sustainable Development (PESD) among teachers. Finally, some learning situa-tions will be presented, using open models, to highlight the potential links between key and spe-cific competences and those needed for sustainable development.1
