Resumen

The present work analyzes a votive inscription that appeared in the municipality of Castrogonzalo (Zamora). The study of the monument has made it possible to fully resolve the reading of the theonym as Ciciae or Cigiae, relating it to the toponym Γίγια of Ptolemy, which would be identified with the current town of Cea and with the river of the same name, in whose vicinity the votive altar was found. Consequently, the identification of the toponym Γίγια with the Roman name of the city of Gijón would be unfounded
