Twenty-five years after the adoption of the Directive 90/314/EEC of 13 June on package travel, package holidays and package tours, the new business models and forms of recruitment on line tourism services have created problems which were not expected at that time and require legalresponse to protect users properly. In order to achieve this, the out-date regulation of thesecontracts has been review and the new Directive 2015/2302 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 25 November 2015, on package travel and travel related services has beenapproved. The aim of this paper is to make a critical analysis of the main changes proposed in the new text, paying special attention to deve lopments in the concept of «package» and the difference with the new tourist services combinations called «linked travel arrangement», because, depending on the product purchased, travellers will enjoy different legal protection. Therefore is necessary to clarify concepts in order to ensure legal security in this area.
