Zusammenfassung

The study of human remains found in archaeological contexts, from physical anthropology in general and particularly from palaeopathology, is growingly profuse and complete thanks, in the first place, to a greater recognition of its contribution to clarify those historical and social aspects which are difficult to interpret using other sources; and, secondly, due to the implementation of increasingly accurate techniques and analysis systems that also afford a greater application scope. These studies are making it possible to draw extended and up-to-date conclusions about ways of life, historical circumstances or aspects related to rituality and the death of individuals. Nevertheless, when it comes to sciences associated and complementary with archaeology, they do not always appear related and, in any case, their results not necessarily come to form part of the exhibition discourses of historical-archaeological museums. This analysis aims to examine the museographies adopted by the museums and archaeological collections located in the Alicante province not only from the standpoint of communication, physical anthropology and palaeopathology as disciplines but also on the basis of the exhibition themes arising from the research undertaken within their respective fields.
