Abstract
In the present paper, it is highlighted a methodology for the tourism planning of natural areas with the aim to increase the tourist activity in the area through the creation of new tourist products but having into consideration the environment preservation according to the policy and tools of the protected natural areas. Taking into consideration the research of a particular natural area (La Mata-Torrevieja Nature Reserve), the aim is to create a methodology that could he applied for the tourist revitalization of other natural areas of the Valencian Community. In the research, the main proposals are based on the natural and cultural values of the natural area with the heritage interpretation as the key tool to be considered for its management.
