Abstract

Since Organic Law 1/04, an intervention methodology has been protocolized with men convicted of gender-based violence, inside and outside prisons, whose analysis of results, from a gender and masculinity approach, will lead us to determine which one should be the necessary and sufficient progression so that, through intervention and treatment, they can eradicate their violence. These programs are voluntary in prison; but mandatory in the cases of the so-called alternative penalties and measures; and start from a budget: The conditional suspension of a prison sentence (when the legal requirements are met), or its follow-up as content of the TBC sentence. It is useful, therefore, to analyze their legal assumptions, basic characteristics, and the effectiveness of these intervention programs, and to advance whether the gender perspective and the new masculinities can be a useful instrument
