Abstract

: The Archive of Democracy is an initiative of the University of Alicante that began in 2004, whose main objective is to collect the written, graphic and audio documentary collections of people or entities prominent in the world of politics, culture or economy of Alicante, especially from the end of the Franco regime to the present day. The aim is to ensure that the documentary record of the political transition and consolidation of democracy in Alicante is preserved and, through the cataloguing and digitization processes, to make it accessible to specialists and the general public. The Democracy Archive also seeks to stimulate knowledge of our history through informative activities and publications, contributing to the strengthening of a collective civic and democratic memory. The project is open to the participation of citizens and is supported by donations of archives and publications.
