Análisis preliminar de drogas de abuso en orina en los servicios de laboratorio de un centro de salud pública

Abstract

There is an increasing need of laboratory service for abused drugs screening in the last years, because the results drugs are very important from treatment clinics, in the hospital, in the primary treatment, or in testing in the workplace. In this work presents the experience of a public health laboratory in health area of Alcoi in urine abuse drugs screening of patient's samples treatment in the drugs service. Urine samples are screened for cannabinoids, cacaine methabolite, amphetamine/metamphetamine. One thousand four hundred thirty-six urine samples from 242 patients were analyzed over thirty months period from June 1994 to December 1996. The threshold levels used are those recommended by Syva Company for EMIT d.a.u. assays. These are 100 μg/L for cannabinoids, 300 mg/L for cacaine and opiates and 1000 μg/L for amphetamines/metamphetamines. The number of samples per patients varies from 1-33, with only one sample form 28% of the patients. A great number of urines gave positive results for opiates and cannabinoids, and a limited number of urine gave positive results for cocaine metabolites and amphetamine.
