Reflexión ética ante los incidentes críticos percibidos por los estudiantes de enfermería en las prácticas clínicas.Un acercamiento al currículo oculto

During their clinical placements nursing students go through a socialization process in which they encounter the specific competences of their future profession; this process also helps them to assimilate the characteristics, meanings, power relationships, hidden curriculum etc., that underlie professional practice. Through the clinical placement nursing students gain and develop different behaviours, skills, attitudes, values etc. Objectives: To gain understanding about how nursing students perceive critical incidents during their clinical and practice learning process.To detect and examine health staff behaviour and interventions which may have a positive or negative influence on students learning process. Reflect on the ethical conflicts that underlies critical incidents. Methodology: qualitative study, convenience sample formed by all the students (22) that at the date of the study were doing their clinical placements at Elda Hospital. Data were collected from the daily practice reports. Data analysis: identification and development of categories emerged through the coding process. Results: Five categories emerged: health staff interaction, learning process, forms of communication, practice confrontation and work setting observation. Conclusion: the level of motivation, respect, recognition and satisfaction achieved by students during their clinical placements will depend to a large extent on the health staff behaviour, the learning process and patients and relatives relationships. It is necessary to identify learning objectives, teaching strategies and evaluation methods to achieve ethical competence.
