Resumen

The eSports or video game competitions have experienced an exponential growth in recent years and constitute an important source of income in the European Union. Particularly, the German video game market is the fifth largest in the world and the largest in Europe and hosts the main sports competitions, being the reference country for European electronic sports. The issue of the recognition of eSports as a true sport is presented in the country as one of the main problems and legal-sports debates of today, whose analysis it is addressed in this paper.
