Abstract
José Alfosea Pastor (Santa Pola 1891 – Alacant 1964) was a musician, conductor and composer. He founded several groups and worked on the dissemination of music. His musical production, of notable quality, helped to construct the musical identity of the South of the País Valencià. Through the socio-musicological analysis of his work we learn about the social context of the 20th century and the discourses which legitimated it. This article aims to highlight José Alfosea’s creation, establish a catalogue of his production and provide the tools so that the cultural manager can deal with its recovery and dissemination.
