Résumé

Before, during and after the practice of sport and physical activity, hydration is a limiting factor in athletic performance, and therefore, proper hydration has benefits for health and performance of athletes. Therefore needs to be set electrolyte and fluid replacement protocol in athletes. The aim of this paper is to establish the electrolyte in sports needs and proposing a practical protocol of hydration for physical exercise. A review in PubMed, SportDiscus and SciELO. Besides using Scholar Google and snowball strategy. Was used «replacement fluid» AND «hydration» AND «exercise» OR «sports» as search equation. The article seeks to provide current knowledge on the role of hydration in sports. Athletes should be well hydrated and when you exercise in hot environments, hyperhydrated. The urine clear can be a good indicator of this. The athlete should drink sports drinks, which contain a mixture of simple sugars and slow absorption, in addition to sodium and maintain a temperature between 10-20 ° C to facilitate gastric emptying. Postexercise rehydration should be about 150-200% of the weight lost during training and / or competition.
