Resumen
A common problem when teaching Mathematics to engineering students is the students’ engagement. This fact results in a high difficulty to pass the subject as well as a high drop-out rate. With the aim to overcome these issues, a change in the teaching methods has been applied. In particular, after a review of active learning techniques, flipped classroom was used for the practical part of the subject. So, several types of materials such as videos, notes and exercises, were provided to the students. In addition, the evaluation system was also modified to adapt to this learning method. Concretely, an online test has been done when each topic was finished, and they were accumulative with the aim to keep the knowledge up-to-date and to detect possible deficiencies in the learning process and/or materials. Then, when the semester was finished, a final computerized exam was done. This methodology has been evaluated by both the students and the teachers. In addition, a comparative study with respect to the results in previous courses has been also carried out. The quantitative and qualitative results validate this methodology.
