There have always been environments that have proved especially attractive to tourist development by its natural wealth: the tourism based on the values of the site. Ensure the integrity of the natural wealth that acts as a focus of attraction and the creation of an urban estructure balanced sustainable without losing the character of the place, is the challenge that presents itself to urban planners. "The environmental value of the territory is always higher than its tourist value and therefore tourism should never prevent the maintenance of long-term environmental values." (Fariña, 2003)Along the Spanish Mediterranean coast are tourist towns where both the survival of the natural environment and urban quality has been threatened by urban policies based mainly on immediate economic performance, causing the progressive degradation of these environments and endangering the continuity of the ecosystem.A clear example of this problem occurs in La Manga del Mar Menor, a privileged environment that suffers the use of the Sun and Beach model. It is our responsibility to reverse this process, recovering the principles of the original Plan of Bonet and complement them with a more sustainable spirit.
