Resumo
The aim of this paper is to show the relevance of ethos-based rhetorical strategies of persuasion in the journalistic genre of Columns on language [Columnas sobre la lengua] (CSL) in Spanish. CSLs present a person of recognized prestige who takes a position on some issue, often related to the correct use of language. The argumentative relevance shown by the speaker in this type of text has led us to ask ourselves what mechanisms make it possible to construct a discursive image, an ethos capable of getting readers to adhere to a certain ideological view of the language. To this end, we have analyzed four columns belonging to different authors, years and media.
