Abstract

We report herein the visual and refractive results obtained with intracapsular cataract surgery with intracapsular implantation of lowpowered intraocular lens in a serie of 15 consecutive cases of high myopic anisometropia and cataract. Al! these cases were previously considered as highly ambliopic and with a poor visual prognosis. In this study, 40% of the cases achieve a visual acuity level of at least 5/10. Postoperative refraction was preoperatively calculated with an aproximation of ±0,.8 D, and the mean final refraction was -1 D. The results obtained in this consecutive serie suggest that such surgical technic offers a better approach to the visual refractive and optical management of high anisometropic patients.
