Abstract
We present the results obtained with the implantation of an I.O.L. in 224 cases of diabetic patients with and without retinopathy. In 198 cases an E.C.C.E. was performed with a posterior chamber lens, in 17 E.C.C.E. with an anterior chamber lens and 9 cases without I.O.L. It is showed that similar results regarding visual acuity, postoperative complications or worsenin of retinopaty are obtained than in a normal non-diabetic population. Implantation of an I.O.L. is safe and effective in diabetic patients but in probably few excepcional cases.
