Abstract

Voilà, at first glance an anodyne presentative, exhibits a range of values and functions that we consider to be intercultural. Our objective is to analyze the different uses of this discursive marker and to give its equivalents in Spanish in its close relation to the enunciation. We will account for the semantico-pragmatic properties of voilà in various conversational uses. As such we will also reveal its modal affective values, and we will mention its functioning as a structuring mark, thus evoking a relation stereotypically paradoxical. Finally, we will not forget to point out how intonation and kinesics make it possible to disambiguate this polysemic marker in utterances with exclamatory or interrogative modalities.
