Résumé
A language codification process frequently involves choosing among several dialectal solutions. Lexical field is one of these cases, especially in dialectal synonymy. Under the pretext of promoting a supradialectal lexical pattern, historical and dialectal lexical options are discriminated in favour of the other that comes from the more influential dialectal area. But problems could arise, because over the course of time, a lexical preference becomes a lexical discrimination. In this paper, we study the topic of synonymy among apegar, aferrar and enganxar with the meaning of ‘stick’ in Catalan. This analysis is based on research conducted on an extensive corpus of texts, as well as on the information provided by different historical dictionaries.
