Resum
We show the results that we have obtained to date in the design and building of a sonochemical reactor, in order to use ultrasounds to increase the efficiency of chemical reactions in the purification of sewage. For this purpose, it is necessary to build and characterize ultrasonic transducers. We have chosen sandwich transducers constituted by two piezoelectric ceramics between two metallic pieces because they are the most used transducers. In this work, we show the process used to characterize a piezoelectric ceramic, obtaining the resonance frequencies associated to some of its vibration modes and its admittance curve as a function of the frequency. We have proposed several possible configurations for the transducer, changing the nature and dimensions of the metallic pieces that constitute the radiating head and the backing, in order to increase the sonic energy that the transducer radiates to the medium and to modify its resonance frequency.
