Zusammenfassung
The unit of education made up by EPA (which stands for Permanent Education of Adults) has traditionally been subordinated to the school system and its function consisted in compensating for deficiencies in primary education. Now, it faces a new challenge, as in the Comunidad Valenciana its future is widely being questioned. In view of this fact this article first reflects on the function of EP A and then analyses the importance of the teaching of languages as a part of the curriculum. The main importance is given to the teaching of French, especially in its function of offering one of the most solid ways towards the consolidation of our European consciousness. In an intention to offer graduates certain directions for the teaching of French as a foreign language, the article finally proposes some guidance in methodology which will help to direct the behaviour of the teacher.
