Abstract

The consolidation of the digital environment and all its communication modalities has expanded the possibilities of interaction and the application areas of languages. Adapting to this new reality, in this methodological approach we combine different non-reactive techniques (exploiting of secondary sources, systematic observation, and mystery shopping) which allow us to measure effectively the use of languages in telematic communication. The authors have applied them specifically in local administration and service companies. The first of these application areas also helps us to develop a global index of presence of the Valencian language in the electronic media, which indicates to us that town councils have an average of 60% of these media in Valencian language, still far from linguistic normality.
