Abstract

The Aspe Cretaceous-Tertiary succession is divided into 17 lithostratigraphic units: Represa Fm. (Upper Albian), whitish grey limestones (Cenomanian-Turonian), white, pink and red marls and marly limestones (Turonian-Early Maatrichtian), marls with olistostromes (Late Maastrichtian), marls with calcarenitic intercalations (Early Paleocene), dark limestones with olistostromes (Late Paleocene), black and red shales (Paleocene-Eocene boundary), Rasa Sandstone Fm. (Paleocene-Eocene boundary), grey marls (Early Eocene), nummulitic limestones, marls and limestones (Early Eocene), red marls (Middle - Late Eocene), grey marly limestones (Late Eocene - Oligocene), marly limestones and cross stratified calcarenites (Oligocene-Early Miocene), orange calcarenites (Early Miocene), conglomeratic limestones with cross stratification (Late Tortonian), conglomerates, shales and silts (Late Tortonian-Messinian) and conglomerates with rounded and reddish clasts (Pliocene-Quaternary).
