The phrase "cultural patrimony" is quite frequently used nowadays. Fortunately, the official institutions whose mission is to defend and promote cultural events are no longer exclusively interested in arts and monuments. On the contrary, there seems to be a new concern for some values not properly regarded until very recently, and now the cultural patrimony is receiving attention as a whole. This change of attitude is linked to the rediscovered pride in regional identity, but also to the environmentalist awareness and to the development of tourism. The latter has brought about a change towards our patrimony, which is now hailed as unique to attract new visitors.
