Abstract

Since microcredit began to spread in the early 80’s of the last century they have been proposed as one of the most successful dogma in the fight against poverty, full of seeming virtues, disguised success and deceptive benefits. On the contrary, microcredit have not accoplished the numerous promises made by international organisms and NGOs what lead us to affirm that they represent one of the biggest failures in developement cooperation policies, having been fraudulently used in large occasions to boost neoliberal policies and interventions radically opposed to the intended benefits advertised to their beneficiaries. In fact, a very deep process of questioning and collapse in underway in microfinance, not only due to some extremely grave events they have fuelled but as a result of research, assessments and relevant publications.
